Important Information:
- As a reminder, you should be reporting ANY and ALL changes in your income and household composition within 10 days of any changes. Failure to do so is a lease violation and can result in retroactive rent and/or lease termination.
- You are permitted to have visitors, but please be mindful you are responsible for the actions of your guests! Any guests who stay with you may not stay for longer than three (3) days within a six (6) month period.
- Fire safety is extremely important, not only for your own household, but for your neighbors and community as well. Some fire safety tips include do not leave candles or incense burning while you sleep or when you leave your home, never leaving your stove unattended while cooking, and keeping lighters and matches away from children.
- Any criminal or threatening behavior and/or activity that threatens staff of THA WILL result in termination of assistance.
- Please adhere to standards of dress code when attending the office and any THA events. Service WILL NOT be provided to tenants/visitors dressed inappropriately.
Get Ready:
U.S. Inspection Group, Inc, (USIG) Annual Inspections
Inspection will take place week of Monday, October 26th through Thursday, October 29th
Every resident can help the THA get ready for these important inspections by checking your own unit: Call in a work order right away if anything needs to be repaired in your home or apartment. The work order number is 336-475-6137 Ext 108.
Pre-inspect your unit and indicate any deficiencies. For example, smoke alarms that are missing or broken electrical outlets or switch covers that are broken or missing, pests like roaches or bedbugs, non-lighting stove burners, missing stove knobs, missing sink stoppers, and improperly locked windows.
Maintain the unit's cleanliness and safety, and make sure the halls, unit, and furnace/HVAC closets are clutter-free.
Gasoline, propane, charcoal lighter fluid, gas mowers, charcoal/gas grills and engines should not be kept in your apartment. Before the inspection, get rid of everything that could catch fire. Keep the space surrounding water heaters and furnaces accessible. Verify that all windows and escape doors are unobstructed and open and close freely.
You can locate water leaks by inspecting fixtures, listening for any hidden drips, and searching for clear signs of water damage. Check any closets beneath your bathroom.
Electrical wires, extension cords, and cables are examples of items that should be kept out of the way of any walkways.
If doors or windows are blocked by furniture or other personal items, these exits cannot be used in an emergency. Please take everything out of the way of all windows and doors, both inside and outside.
Pest Issues
Pests, of any and all kinds, can be avoided by following some easy steps:
- Clean and remove clutter -keep your unit clean by mopping and sweeping floors, wiping down surfaces, and throwing out any cardboard or trash.
- Calling in work orders for leaks -roaches are attracted to moisture and fixing leaks can avoid them!
- Removing food sources -keep food put away and sealed, keep crumbs off floors and surfaces, and take your trash out regularly.
- Permitting pest control into your unit to spray is mandatory in accordance with your lease and helps prevent pests for you and your neighbors!
If you see ANY pests in your home, such as roaches, mice, etc., please contact the Office IMMEDIATELY so we can start treatment on your unit. There is no reason to tolerate pests in your home. Failure to report a pest issue can result in poor safety and sanitary conditions and raises the odds of pests entering your neighbor's home as well.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Department hosted Safety Town, a program designed for children ages 4 to 6 that teaches real-world safety lessons through interactive activities. Safety Town is a four-day program for 4-6 year-old children that teaches stranger danger, pedestrian, fire and bicycle safety through fun and interactive ways. Children learned safety behavior through their own involvement. The days consist of visits from community professionals, group safety lessons, riding tricycles through a replica town and other hands-on experiences to reinforce safety concepts. We appreciate the Davidson County Sheriff Department for the effort and collaboration to educating both parents and children in safety.
Seasonal Tips for THA Residents
- Stay Warm Without Breaking the Bank - Create a cozy blanket fort for reading, games, or relaxing-it keeps heat in and adds some fun!
- Prevent Frozen Pipes and Water Damage - Open cabinet doors under sinks and let faucets drip slightly on very cold nights to prevent pipes from freezing.
- Keep Walkways Safe - Make snow and ice clearing a mini community mission. Spread sand or ice melt, clear paths carefully, and invite neighbors to join together and you can keep everyone safe and warm.
- Protect Your Health - Wash hands often, get a flu shot if possible, and keep gloves, hats, and scarves handy. Take a quick stretch or enjoy a warm drink after coming in from the cold!
- Build a Winter Support Network - Check in on neighbors, especially seniors or those living alone. Share resources, rides, or a hot meal to make winter safer and more connected for everyone.

Status - 301 James Avenue Rebuild
The reconstruction of the 301 building on James Avenue, which was previously destroyed by fire, excites the Thomasville Housing Authority. This eight-unit multi-family structure is being rebuilt by Bent Pine Construction. The truss, roofing, shingles, windows, first floor masonry, and rough-in plumbing have all been finished, and the project is moving along rather nicely. The exterior door frames, concrete patios, and HVAC rough-in will all be installed.
New Roof Installation on James Avenue
The Thomasville Housing Authority (THA) has hired NC Roofing LLC.to install and replace the new roofs on James Avenue.
The replacement of the roofs on James Aveune is in progress. They have completed six (6) buildings and are working to have all installations completed before the Thanksgiving holiday.
