Message From Executive Director, Rosemary Q. Steele

Dear, Residents,

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will conduct a NSPIRE physical inspection of the property on Liberty Arms and Trinity East on Friday, March 27, 2026. James Avenue will be inspected Monday, March 30, 2026.

HUD inspectors are expected to arrive by 8:00 a.m. and will remain on site throughout the day. Inspections are random, and the Housing Authority is not notified in advance which units will be selected. As a result, any unit may be subject to inspection.

Under NSPIRE standards, units must be maintained in a condition that is safe, sanitary, and in good repair, with no health or safety hazards. Residents are responsible for maintaining their unit and surrounding areas in a manner that does not contribute to deficiencies.

Residents are encouraged to report any maintenance concerns immediately so they may be addressed prior to inspection. The Housing Authority will conduct pre-inspections to identify and correct potential NSPIRE deficiencies.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping ensure compliance.

Preparing for an NSPIRE Inspection - For Residents

NSPIRE Inspection Prep list. All information as listed below.

After Notice of Inspection
It is recommended to pre-inspect your unit and report any deficiencies so they can be repaired prior to the inspection. If you see items in your unit that may be flagged for an inspection, alert your landlord.

These can include:

  • Broken or missing smoke alarms
  • Missing electrical outlets or switch covers
  • Pests, such as bedbugs or cockroaches

If you see a possible deficiency, notify your landlord immediately.

See the Reporting Maintenance Requests job aid for more information.

Prepare Your Unit
While you are not required to clean or prepare for an inspection, you can help the inspector complete it more efficiently if your unit is ready to be inspected.

  • If your unit is clean and walkways are free of clutter, the inspector will be better able to access areas they must inspect and complete it quickly.
  • Report concerns outside of your unit if living in a multi-family building, such as in areas you use often (e.g., laundry rooms or walkways.)
  • If present, secure any animals in the unit during the inspection.
  • Communicate with your landlord regularly and request maintenance when needed.
  • Ask your landlord if there are other building policies regarding the condition of your unit so that you can comply with the inspection and lease.

Save Our Babies presents The Community Closet

Save Our Babies, in partnership with the Thomasville Housing Authority, hosted a "Community Closet" on February 10, 2026. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality clothing, regardless of their financial situation. Our mission is to create a place of dignity and respect for those who need it most by offering free access to this essential resource. We are proud to be making a difference in our community and making a meaningful impact.

The initiative was the direct result of a massive clothing drive spearheaded by Save Our Babies earlier this year. Thanks to a surge of donations from residents and local partners, the racks at the Lois A. Hunter Life Skills Center were filled with everything from infant essentials to stylish outfits for older children and adults.

We recognize that necessities like clothing are often overlooked but are essential for restoring dignity, promoting self-sufficiency, and ensuring the overall well-being of our community. By offering these vital resources, we help individuals and families take the first steps toward stability and hope for the future.

Beyond meeting immediate needs, our mission is to raise awareness and inspire collective action. We believe that everyone has the power to make a difference, and we encourage our community to join us in service, support, and compassion. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more caring community.

Ultimately, our goal is to help our clients regain their self-confidence and self-esteem, empowering them to live happy, fulfilling lives. We give thanks to "Save Our Babies" for their unwavering support and dedication to the community.

Online Scavenger Hunt: Black History Edition

Teens participated in our first-ever online scavenger hunt at the Life Skills Center. They were given a deadline to use the offered hints to conduct and online search for notable historical personalities and occasions from Black History. Some chose to work alone, while others collaborated. They swiftly looked up as many historical people and events as they could using cell phones or computers in our computer lab. Online scavenger hunts are dynamic experiences that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning by fusing technology, creativity, and hands-on inquiry.

The winner received a sweet treat from our program director.

D.I.Y. Valentine's Treats and Desserts

Residents came prepared to create some delicious, sweet treats, in honor of Valentine's Day. These special desserts were made with love and little bits of milk chocolate and a whole lot of sprinkles. some of the chocolate-coated treats that were created included strawberries, Oreos, Rice Krispies treats, chocolate chip cookies, and pretzels. They seemed to be a hit as most of the desserts barely made it home!
