Message from Executive Director, Rosemary Q. Steele

Dear Residents,

Thomasville Housing Authority has been made aware that the typical school day has been increased by an additional 30 minutes daily. We have changed the after-school tutoring and enrichment hours to accommodate the new school schedule. Save Our Babies has been a dedicated and constant support to provide this most needed resource to the families in Thomasville. Tutoring will be 4:00pm -530pm.

Parents should be as dedicated in choosing tutoring for their children for many reasons. Some parents feel unable to help their children with schoolwork. Others may find their children are more receptive to working through school struggles with another person. Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills.

Tutoring gives students individualized attention that they don't get in a crowded classroom. This helps children who struggle to keep up, as well as those who aren't challenged enough. It also keeps students on track during breaks from school, such as during Spring Break or during the summer.

Parents we urge you to take advantage of the "FREE" tutoring opportunity for your children. They are our FUTURE!

Important Information

As a reminder, you should be reporting ALL changes in your income and household composition within 10 days of any changes. Failure to do so is a lease violation and can result in retroactive rent or charges to your account.

Please be advised that any payments on your account should be paid in the month that they are due. Failing to pay charges in a timely manner will result in court papers being filed for nonpayment. Additionally, if you fail to pay full amount due online, will result in restrictions in the ability to continue to pay online.

Not to keep any unlicensed or inoperable motor vehicles in the development, expired tags and registrations, and not to work on vehicles in the parking lot.

To keep paper, trash, cans, bottles, and other such debris picked up in the yard to include in the front, rear, and side of the unit and keep porches and balconies clean.

Remember to leave your storm doors unlocked so Pest Control can treat your unit. And if you know that you have placed a work order so maintenance can enter unit to make the requested repairs.

Not to use gas and charcoal grills and not to store or maintain combustible materials or liquids inside the dwelling unit.

If you are experiencing issues with any of your neighbors, please contact the office and we will the address any problems.

Lease Violations

Below are some common occurrences the office has noted throughout our communities that are considered lease violations. Please remember that repetitive lease violations can result in the termination of your lease.

  • This is a reminder, that all THA communities are smokefree and there is NO designated smoking areas on any THA properties. This means you are not permitted to smoke in your unit or on your porches. If you, your household members, or guests, are seen or reported to be smoking on THA property this is considered a lease violation!

  • All pets must be added to your lease prior to living in your unit. Having pets in your unit without following the necessary steps is a violation of your lease and the THA Pet Policy and will result in termination of your lease.

  • Also, you MUST keep pets on a leash when outside and MUST clean up after them. Failure to do so is a violation of your lease and the THA Pet Policy and will result in the removal of the pet from the unit.

  • Allowing individuals who have not been approved to reside in your unit is a lease violation, so the adult person that has requested to be added to the household must have signed the lease prior to residing in the unit.

Maintenance

  • Please remember to call the office for any work orders. The only time you should call the emergency work order number if there is an emergency after hours or on weekends. If you have an emergency work order during normal
business hours, please contact the office at (336) 475-6137 ext. 108. If we miss your call, please leave a voicemail and we will make sure your work order in entered and given to maintenance.

  • If you are unsure if a work order qualifies as an emergency, please check the Emergency Maintenance Call list. This information can be found on our website, or if you would like a physical copy please contact the office and we
    can send one to you.

  • IF you have a leak in your unit, please call it in ASAP! While waiting for maintenance staff to come out and address your work order, please avoid using the appliance or faucet where the leak is coming from and leave a bucket or pot to catch any water and avoid damage to your unit.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Presents Read Across America Book Give-A-Way

The members of Phi beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated collected books to give away to some of our residents in honor of Read Across America week. Read Across America week typically takes place during the first week of March, specifically centered around March 2nd, which is the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss. Schools, libraries, and other organizations host events throughout the entire week to encourage a love of reading.

During the event, there was a wide variety of books offered for every reading level. There were chapter books, books about different cultures, picture books and so much more. Every young person that came by walked away with at least two books to read and enjoy.

We want to thank Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Tau Epsilon Sigma chapter for their generosity and putting together such an awesome event!
